What are the benefits of dry cleaning a mixer?

The advantage of dry cleaning is that there is no chance of water remaining behind.

To grow, micro-organisms need food (often sugars), a kind of gas (some need oxygen, some don't) and water. All microorganisms need at least a little water. Dry cleaning prevents water from entering machines. Water increases the risk of dangerous growth of bacteria such as legionella and salmonella. In addition, there is a risk of mold formation if not properly dried or ventilated. Wet cleaning potentially brings water into production areas. For example, when opening hatches where water has remained. This can be undesirable when working with conditioned rooms or hygroscopic products.

Dry cleaning solutions include:

  • Cleaning with dry ice (blasting with frozen CO2 pellets)
  • Mechanical means, scrapers, brushes
  • Alcohol wipes
