Multiplying knowledge by sharing it

I had to rub my eyes for a moment when I read it. Since the 1960s, the world population has grown from 3.5 to 7 billion people. 3.5 billion people in more than 50 years! And it doesn't stop there, according to the UN. We will probably only take thirty years for the next 2.5 billion extra. In short: by 2050 the earth will have no less than 10 billion people. In addition, the average income per capita is also increasing. Much of that extra income, especially in emerging countries, is spent on food and especially proteins: meat, but also fish and eggs.

How should you look at those numbers? One will be terrified - how will we ever get 10 billion mouths fed? The other sees opportunities and takes up his role. We at Dinnissen belong to the latter category.

The world market for food processing equipment currently has an annual turnover of 43 billion euros and is expected to grow by 6% every year. Dinnissen plays a not insignificant role in this market, because our machines - which are in operation at various world market leaders - offer continuity and make a significant contribution to efficient and safe food production. Inspired by global demographic developments, we will now fulfill this role even more emphatically.

The reason was a meeting at our head office about a complex project. Experts from different disciplines gave their views on the obstacles we encountered and suggested solutions. During those consultations I again noticed how much and how diverse the knowledge we have at Dinnissen is. Not only in machine building and managing demanding projects, but also in the field of solids processing. That knowledge is fixed in procedures and is transferred to new colleagues, but that knowledge is not (immediately) available to the outside world. Not yet. Because that is about to change.

In 2050, the earth will have around 10 billion people. This requires an efficient and reliable food chain.

Dinnissen will share his knowledge with you in three ways. The first way is a knowledge base that we have built up over the past months. You will find information and articles on all kinds of subjects related to the food processing market. The information is available in English, German and Dutch.

We are also starting a blog - this is the first! Every month we address a relevant theme. We don't do that alone; we also give the floor to countless others, such as experts and journalists from leading trade journals. They will give their vision of developments in the world market.

Third, we are starting a Q&A. Accessible to everyone - including companies that are not Dinnissen customers - with questions about our machines, but also, for example, about the properties of certain raw materials.

We make our knowledge available to you without charging any costs. We do this because we believe that we can only fulfill our joint mission - efficient food production for 10 billion people in the long term - if we work together.

Would you like to comment on an article or a blog? Are you missing information on a relevant topic? Or do you have knowledge that you would like to make available to our knowledge database?

I would love to hear from you.
